Shay Bess, MD, is a practicing spine surgeon at Colorado Scoliosis and Spine Specialists (coloradosss.com).  Dr. Shay Bess specializes in the treatment of scoliosis, spine deformity, and revision spine for pediatric and adult patients.  Based in Greenwood Village, Colorado, Dr. Shay Bess is a distinguished and renown leader in global spine research, outcomes innovation, and physician education.   Dr. Shay Bess earned his undergraduate degree from Columbia University, his medical doctorate from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio and completed a fellowship in pediatric and adult spinal surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. 

Dr. Bess is the president and founder of the International Spine Study Group Foundation. Since its inception in 2009, the International Spine Study Group has presented more than 2,000 scientific abstracts, has published over 550 peer reviewed manuscripts, and is internationally recognized as one of the most successful spine research study groups in the world. Dr. Shay Bess is an internationally recognized leader in spine surgery and research and one of the most published and distinguished spine surgeons in Colorado. 

In addition to his research and clinical efforts, Dr. Bess has participated in medical mission work for charity efforts that provide spine care for children in Ethiopia, Ghana, and Colombia.
