Praveen Mummaneni, MD
Dr. Praveen Mummaneni is the Joan O'Reilly Distinguished Professor in Spinal Surgery at UCSF, San Francisco. He serves as co-director of the UCSF Spine Center and vice chair of the UCSF neurosurgery department. He is also the Lead Surgeon for Perioperative Services at the main UCSF Parnassus campus and director of the MIS and Complex Spine fellowship.
Dr. Mummaneni earned his medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurological surgery at UCSF. His additional training includes a complex spine fellowship at Emory University. He also earned his MBA degree at LSU in Baton Rouge.
Dr. Mummaneni is active in several professional organizations. He is a Director of the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and the Secretary-elect for the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS). He served as President of the San Francisco Neurological Society, President of the California Association of Neurological Surgeons, Vice President of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and Chairman of the AANS-CNS Spine Section. He serves as a deputy journal editor for Neurosurgery, and he completed a term as editor-in-chief of the Journal of Neurosurgery: Spine.
