Munish C. Gupta, MD, MBA
Munish C. Gupta, MD, MBA, joined the world-renowned Spine Department at Washington University in 2015 as the M. B. Simon Distinguished Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Professor of Neurological Surgery. He received his medical degree from Northwestern University after completing the accelerated 6-year combined BA, MD Honors Program.
After an internship and residency at Northwestern University, he completed a fellowship in spinal surgery at Norton Leatherman Spine Center at the University of Louisville. Following his fellowship, he became a clinical instructor at the University of California, Irvine, at the College of Medicine and practiced at the Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center. In 1997, he joined the faculty at University of California, Davis. In 2023, he graduated with Beta Gamma Sigma honors with his Executive M.B.A. from Washington University.
He treats both children and adults with diagnoses of scoliosis, kyphosis, spondylolisthesis, and flatback. He has published more than 280 peer-reviewed scientific articles and 60 book chapters. He published Bridwell and DeWald’s Textbook of Spinal Surgery 4th edition and the textbook Complex Spine Cases, A Collection of Current Techniques. He has trained 50-plus spinal surgeons and is a member of the board of directors at the SRS, AO Spine, NASS, ABOS, AAOS, ACOS, and AOA.
